Shaping healthcare for the future

At the event, leaders were able to hear first-hand the key themes and issues raised. Recently qualified pharmacist Bethany Smart and trainee nurse Beth Cummins also shared their views and aspirations on what more could be done to recruit, retain and look after the wellbeing of our workforce, as well as how we could deliver care for some of our most hard-to-reach communities.

Heidi Mottram, chief executive of Northumbrian Water, shared her thoughts and gave an inspirational speech about leadership’s role in bringing people together to drive forward ambitions across complex organisations and develop a positive culture.

Leaders had the opportunity to share their views on what they think the next steps and priorities should be to further encourage and enable the delivery of integrated care which focuses on the patient – this included how best practice can be shared more consistently and how communication and engagement can be improved.

These views are now being incorporated into the ICS healthcare strategy and relevant workstreams.
